Go on an adventure in the Kempen: wonderful autoumn activities

Need some fresh air, a change of scenery or do your children need to burn off some energy? There is plenty to do in the Kempen. Even in Covid times. We list a number of fun activities for you (and your family).

Renewed energy after an afternoon in nature

Fairylike mushrooms, the crunch of autumn leaves under your shoes and your lungs full of pure air. Delicious. During a walk through one of the Kempen’s nature parks you will experience autumn in all its glory.

The Grote Netewoud, the Kalmthoutse Heide, the Kempense Heuvelrug or the Turnhouts Vennen area … They are four completely different types of landscape, with one thing in common: you will be amazed.</span

Whether you opt for a brisk walk, an afternoon of nature photography or a scavenger hunt with your children, everyone can have a blast in nature.

Tip: Going out with kids? Make it exciting with a competition and try to find as many different mushrooms or autumn leaves as possible.

Smiles all around: living it up at an indoor playground

Autumn can be very colourful, but sometimes also very grey … Is the weather not on your side and you still want to do something with your children? You’re in luck, the Kempen offers endless fun indoor activities for the whole family.

A few indoor playgrounds that are really worth to explore:

While your kids are climbing, scrambling and romping, you can take a break with a delicious cup of coffee or maybe even a piece of apple pie at the indoor playground.

Please note: due to the Covid-19 measures, some indoor playgrounds are temporarily closed or work with reservations. So before you leave, always check the indoor playground’s website.

Follow the aromas: good food in the Kempen

The Kempen is a region of epicureans. Whether you enjoy a locally brewed beer in a cosy folk pub or prefer to dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant, the Kempen will surprise you with its rich palette of flavours.

Would you like to discover the authentic flavour of the Kempen? No fewer than 250 regional specialities are produced in the province of Antwerp, and a large proportion of them originated in the Kempen region. More than enough to keep you sweet (and salty) for weeks.

For example, Lier is known for the Liers Vlaaike; the monks in the Norbertine Abbey of Postel brew a tasty beer and at the farm shop of goat farm Polle you can buy artisanal cheeses, yoghurts and ice creams.

Experience autumn in the Kempen

Actually, one day is not enough to discover all the beauties of the Kempen. Luckily, there are a lot of camping options: from glamping to a tent by the water, there is something for every kind of camper.

So put on a pair of sturdy shoes and wander down to the Kempen, where you are sure to experience autumn at its best!
